The Volkswagen Club of the Philippines Goes to Shakey’s Libis, July 28, 2007
July 29, 2007Some pictures from the bug run
The rain last Saturday did not dampen the enthusiasm of the members who attended the informal meeting of the Club at Burger King. Early on, there was no sign that the rain would letup with scattered reports of strong rains in Guadalupe and in Marikina. Thank God that it did stop at around 8pm and that enabled us to plan the mini-run to Shakey's Libis.
TJ Benitez (Silverdragon). met us at Shakey's Libis and proved to be a very gracious host. Some of our friends from Malolos also dropped by and others also brought along their families that added to the numbers present that night. We all had fun especially around midnight when some "celebrities look-a-likes" showed up. Rico Puno showed up together with Bernardo Bernardo. Imagine the two together and riot will surely ensue. Antonette Taus was also seen. Johnny A. was also spotted. Even the diminutive Weng-Weng made a ressurection. We were also able to see Matet who stayed longer than the others.
With about 30 members and guests present that night, the Club decided to take care of the pizzas. The drinks were on the account of the members.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for visiting.
The best thing to do is to become a Volkswagen Club of the Philippines member. It only cost less than a thousand a year and the experience is worthwhile. You also need to join the club forum http://www.vwcp.org
Regarding your plan of purchasing a kombi, I must recommend that you get ALL mechanicals in working order - engine, suspension, brakes, electricals, transmission, steering. It’s a waste of money making the car/van look good then get stranded because of a small mechanical problem.
When you are confident on using it on a semi-daily routine, you can concentrate on cosmetics. Parts ARE still available and the club and members are all too willing to help newbies out.
Why don’t you drop by Burger King, Timog every Saturday night and approach any one of us.
Good luck with your plans and keep me posted!
:-)

Posted by manilaghia at December 7, 2007, 6:27 pmHey guys,
I recently bought a Volkswagen Caravelle T4 and I have problems with getting parts for my vehicle.
Would you guys know a reliable contact or supplier of parts for Volkswagen, maybe specifically for the T4 I mentioned?
My front windshield broke and I can’t find anyone so far who can provide me a new windshield.
Any help would be great!
Thanks
Tim

Ruel, the 67 is one of the most sought after models. good luck with your project. Personally, I haven’t had any contact with sandblasting services but I can refer you to Jimmy Galves at Arantea Ave who does impeccable paint/body on a VW. Here’s his number 09178145470

Good day!
I am planning to buy a 1972 Kombi. I’ve always wanted a piece of history and style. The Kombi (aside from the Beetle and other VWs of course) embodies this in one package.
Just a couple of questions which I hope you woudn’t mind shedding .
some light on:
1. What are the typical problems which may arise?
2. Where do I get parts if ever I need them?
3. If there are no parts, what must I do and where must I go?
4. How much should I be ready to shell out in keeping one in good working condition?
Thanks a bunch and God bless!
